Company Profile

Peraton is a U.S.-based national security and technology company, and one of the portfolio companies of private equity investment firm Veritas Capital.[i] Peraton acquired Northrop Grumman’s IT and Mission Support Services Business and government services company Perspecta in February and May 2021 respectively.[ii] Peraton is contracted for work on the Minuteman system, and is a subcontractor in the management and operation of Sandia National Laboratory. Peraton’s total revenue for 2024 was reportedly $7 billion.[iii]

Nuclear weapons

Peraton holds a $25.7 million contract for Missile Applications Software Support to the Minuteman III system.[i]

Peraton also holds a $53 million contract running until 2039 to provide Nuclear Safety Cross-Check Analysis (NSCCA) and Nuclear Safety Analysis and Technical Evaluation (NSATE) support for the Minuteman III.[ii]

Peraton is also a subcontractor in the management and operation of Sandia National Laboratory, with Honeywell’s wholly owned subsidiary National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia (NTESS) as primary contractor.[iii] Sandia National Laboratory has been directly involved in the nuclear weapon modernisation programmes of at least the W88 Alt 37 warhead[iv] and the W39/Mk7 program[v] ((both used for arming the submarine launched Trident II (D5) missiles)), the W87-1 warhead for the new Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile[vi], the W80-4 warheads for the Long Range Standoff missiles[vii], and the B61-12 gravity bomb[viii].[ix] Sandia National Laboratory was also one of the design agencies for the refurbishment of the W76-1 warhead for the Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missiles.[x]
