$13 Billion to Northrop Grumman for new US nukes

Northrop Grumman locks in 13.3 billion 9-year contract to replace the US land based nuclear armed inter continental ballistic missile system.

For anyone following the discussions around the new Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, its no surprise that Northrop Grumman would get the contract. Northrop acquired Orbital ATK (and took over all nuclear weapon related contracts) last year, prompting Boeing to drop out of the GBSD competition.

Northrop Grumman is involved in all aspects of the US nuclear weapons arsenal- from facilities producing warheads to producing key components for specially designed delivery systems.

Northrop Grumman has a number of other contracts for nuclear weapons work in the US arsenal, some of which is also used the UK in their nuclear weapon system, it is connected to at least US$ 68.3 billion in outstanding contracts related to nuclear weapons, with work anticipated to run until at least 2036.
